Plugin to allow Geneious Users to Submit Jobs to CIPRES REST API

We are considering developing a plugin that would allow users to submit jobs from Geneious to the CIPRES REST API, so people can take advantage of parallel codes BEAST/RAxML/MrBAYES/MIGRATE-N, etc. on large clusters. We are curious as to whether this is something Geneious users and developers would find useful/desirable.

  Yes! Especially BEAST and MrBayes. Not sure How a BEAST could be integrated into Geneious since the configuration file is usually set up in an external program (Beauti).

  It does sound quite useful but I'll temper that by saying we haven't had any feature requests for it. You could take an agile approach and build something really simple to start with and see how much of a response it gets. I think MrBayes would be the best place to start.

  Thanks Richard for the advice. We did receive a number of requests for connectivity to Geneious in a recent user survey. We will start with MrBayes, as you recommend..

  We tried adding the Garli and RAxML plugins to a Geneious Trial download, just to experiment a bit but  they seem to be inactivated/restricted. Are they only available with a licensed copy?

  Yes, they require a license but you should be able to get a free 2 week trial which will activate them.
