Use existing Geneious tool for developing a new Plugin

I am writing a plugin to add extra functionality for creating a New Sequence. My question is, if I can use the existing tool(New Sequence - under the menu Sequence ), and then make then modification to that in my new plugin, or must I write the functionality from scratch. If I can use the existing tool, is there any tutorial/ link that I could be redirected to?

I am using Eclipse to develop and Geneious version 8.x

  That's great to hear!

  Unfortunately you will need to write it from scratch as the existing functionality is not open source. However, it is a pretty simple so you should be able to create your own version fairly easily.

  What kind of extra functionality would you like to add? If you don't mind sharing your thoughts then we might be able to give you some design tips.
