When you launch Geneious Prime for the first time, click Activate a License to begin the registration/activation process. Alternatively, select Help > Activate a License from the menu at any time.
From Geneious Prime 2024 onwards, you will be prompted to select your license type to activate (see below)
Activating with your Email
Before attempting to activate, please verify that you are :
i. Using Geneious Prime 2024 or later (go to Help > About Geneious Prime in the application to confirm), and
ii. You have received an invitation email from your Geneious License administrator or an email from Geneious Support that does not contain a license key (in the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).
If eligible, then select "Email Sign In" option.
In the next window, enter the email address that was used by your Geneious license administrator to send you the invite for the subscription, or email you used when purchasing the license.
If the email address you are using does not have an existing MyAccount, you will be asked to register and set a password for the account in the next step. You can also select "Create one" to create an account directly.
If the email address you are using already has an existing MyAccount, press Continue to proceed with the activation.
You can also recover/reset your password by clicking on Forgot password.
Once logged in successfully, Geneious Prime will look for the active subscription associated with your account/email address.
In the next step, you will be asked to agree to the License Terms to complete activation.
Congratulations - you have activated Geneious successfully. You can now Start using Geneious Prime :
Activating with a License Key
If you have a license key (in the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) select the "License Key" option.
Enter your email address and the license key in next window and click the Activate button to activate your license.
Activating a Floating License
If your organisation has a floating license, then select the "License Server" option.
Enter the hostname/address and port (default 27001) for the computer where the Floating License Manager is installed. You will need to get these details from your system administrator. Click Activate to connect to your Floating license manager and obtain a seat to activate Geneious Prime.

Q. How often do I need to activate Geneious Prime ?
A. The activation is a one-time process. (If you replace or reformat your hard drive, you may need to activate again.)
Q. Can I activate license on a machine with no internet access ?
A. Geneious Prime uses a licensing system that requires online activation. Geneious Prime needs to be able to connect to https://licensing.biomatters.com , https://licensing.geneious.com (using the standard https port 443), https://isul.geneious.com/ and https://isulapi.geneious.com/.
If access to these sites are blocked by a firewall then Geneious will be unable to register the license activation and will run in restricted mode.
