The following patch has been made available to enable customers on a perpetual license for Geneious R9, R10 or R11 to continue using their license on macOS 10.15 Catalina or 11.1 Big Sur. Note that this patch doesn’t address all known issues on Catalina or Big Sur, only licensing*.
If you are running macOS 10.12 Sierra or later, the fix can be applied prior to upgrading your OS. If possible, we recommend that you do so to ensure a smooth transition.
If you are able to upgrade to Geneious Prime 2019.2.3 or later you will not need to apply this fix.

Instructions
- Unzip the downloaded file by double clicking it. If you are using the Safari browser, this may have already been done.
- Double click CatalinaLicensingFix and follow the onscreen instructions.
- Run Geneious.
- Dismiss any messages saying "Failed to launch FLEXnet licensing service" or "Your license has expired" (click "Trial Later" if the option is provided).
- Select Help - Install FLEXnet from the menu and follow the instructions to reinstall FLEXnet.
- Restart Geneious.
Note: FLEXnet must already be installed to apply this fix. If you have never previously activated a personal or trial license in Geneious but now wish to do so, you will need to Install FLEXnet via the Geneious Help menu first, then follow the instructions above to apply the fix. Once you have completed the initial installation of FLEXnet you will receive error messages until you have applied the fix.
*Note: Users running R9-R11 on Big Sur 11.4 or later may also encounter an additional error "Geneious is damaged and can't be opened". This is due to later versions of Big Sur no longer recognising the app signature for old versions of Geneious and cannot be fixed by applying the licensing patch.
