Is Geneious Prime compatible with Apple M1 chips?

The upcoming Geneious Prime 2021 release is not expected to have any stability issues running on the new M1 MacBook Pro, MacBook Air or Mac Mini based on early testing we have performed on similar hardware. The beta release of Geneious Prime 2021 is available here

Note that when opening Geneious Prime for the first time on an M1 mac users may receive the message "Geneious can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software".  We are still investigating the cause of this.  As a workaround, you can run Geneious by going to Applications, right-clicking on the Geneious Prime icon and choosing Open.

Geneious Prime is not optimized for the M1 architecture so performance gains from the new chips may be limited.

Earlier versions of Geneious Prime may experience crashes related to the Big Sur OS if Geneious is idle for a period of time.  We do not recommend running Geneious Prime 2020 and earlier on the Big Sur OS if possible.
