Most of Geneious Luma is on the cloud and is updated automatically. The Luma Integration plugin connects Geneious Prime to Luma and from time to time users will need to keep it up to date. The following are different ways that this can be achieved.
Option 1: Manual Installation
The latest version of the plugin can be downloaded from http://assets.geneious.com/plugins/LumaPlugin_1_4_1.gplugin
Drag and drop it into an open copy of Geneious Prime to install it. The plugin can be installed for all users on a computer (Administrator privileges required) or just a single user account.
Option 2: Adding the plugin to the Plugin Manager
Your organisation can set up Geneious Prime to check for updates to the plugin by editing the geneious.properties file as part of your deployment of Geneious Prime.
- On Windows this file can be found inside the installation directory.
- On macOS the file will be located at
/Library/Application Support/Geneious/geneious.properties
Add the following:
override-property-com.biomatters.geneious.userEditablePreferences.CustomPluginXmlUrl=https://desktop-links.geneious.com/assets/plugins/LumaPlugin.xml
When users start up Geneious Prime, it will check for updates to the Luma plugin in addition to other Geneious plugins. If there is an update the following dialog will be shown.
Note: If you wish to control when updates roll out to users, then you can host your own copy of LumaPlugin.xml and update geneious.properties accordingly. For more details see https://manual.geneious.com/en/latest/AdvancedAdmin.html#adding-custom-plugins-to-the-plugins-menu-in-geneious-prime
