Memory Allocation Guidelines
- Leave approximately 2 GB of RAM for your operating system
- Example: On a 16 GB system, allocate no more than 14 GB to Geneious
- Geneious Prime automatically allocates maximum available RAM (typically total RAM minus 2 GB)
- *RAM requirements will vary greatly depending on dataset and variables such as genome size

Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL): Required for plugins: Spades, Flye, and STAR
- Use Ubuntu 24.04 on WSL (Geneious Prime 2026, see WSL setup for details)
- Not Supported: Windows Insider Program and Long-term Servicing Channel
MacOS-Specific Notes
- macOS Catalina (10.15) Compatibility: Only Geneious Prime 2019.2.3+ is fully compatible
- Legacy Versions (R9-R11): Not officially supported on Catalina or higher (See this post for further information)
Linux-Specific Notes
