The Geneious Cloud Audit Log can be used to view historic events in an organization's Geneious Cloud workspace, for the purpose of accountability, security, and compliance.
Who can access Audit Logs?
This feature is only available to Geneious Prime Enterprise licenses. They are only accessible to Admins for a given Cloud Workspace (different from a License Administrator). Workspace Administrators can be assigned in the web Admin console.
Why use the Cloud Audit Log?
The Audit Log records key high-impact cloud events, in order to support accountability, security, compliance, and facillitate troubleshooting. It does not include all day to day activity. It also does not include events from user's local (non-Cloud) Geneious Prime workspaces.
- For traceability and understanding changes to individual documents, it is recommended to use Document History or Lineage capabilities.
- To retrieve mistakenly deleted documents or folders, the Deleted Items tool is recommended.
What is in the Audit Log?
There are a range of event types recorded. Each event includes information about the user who triggered it and which users, documents or folders were affected by the event.
Some example events are:
- When a Cloud folder or document has been deleted and who has deleted it.
- When folder sharing permissions are changed.
- When a user is added to the workspace or a group.
Events are retained for 180 days, or for 90 days after a license expires.
How can it be accessed?
The Audit Log is available in the Geneious Prime Admin Console: https://app.geneious.eu/audit-log. Authentication is required.
Events can be filtered by date, and exported in csv or excel format.
